Шон Хоуи, журналист и любитель комиксов написал книгу.
Вот эту:
Месяца два назад по этому поводу было написано много статей и отзывов и дано много интервью.
Интервью Хоуи продолжает давать до сих пор,
вот например:
ВыдержкиLike everyone knows who created Luke Skywalker, and everyone knows who created Sherlock Holmes — but most people aren’t going to be able to tell you who created Wolverine.People might be able to say, “Wolverine, he’s one of the Marvel guys, right?” But I think that that is something really unique about comics books, the lack of credit for the authors. And I'm not even talking about money or ownership — I’m talking about the way that the public assigns credit in its mind.
...
Because there’s the idea of Marvel and the spirit of Marvel, and there are a lot of these intangibles, and then, as with any other company, there’s this machine that exists to make money for people. And as the company gets bigger and bigger, the people who are trying to make money are more and more removed from the people who are trying to continue the spirit of the company. It’s hardly a novel observation that corporations aren’t people, but I do think that working on the book made me very aware of the foolishness of ascribing values like loyalty to corporations.
...
I think for Stan Lee, it was more like, “The comic book industry is in trouble, what are we going to do with these characters?” Now, everyone in the industry seems to be very happy to move into other media and I think that that’s great, I think people should make money from their creations and I think, you know, better a Hawkeye movie than another Battleship movie. But the thing that I guess sort of bothers me is that nobody is saying, “There’s a lot about the art form of comics that the movies will never be able to touch.” It seems to me that people have just decided that movies are the next step up for comic books, that that is what comic books should aspire to.
...
There’s a tendency for the public at large to ascribe all the value of what comic books are to the actual characters, and I think people involved in the comic industry are doing nothing to change that perception.
...
Well, I think it goes back to the idea that Marvel is this narrative tapestry that all of these people have worked on and passed on.
...
But I feel like somebody said, I can’t remember where I heard this, but they said “Marvel Comics characters were all worse off when they became superheroes, their lives were ruined when they got their powers.” Which is kind of true!
QVall).
Ну и всё.
Стоп. Я что-то забыла.
